Ever consider how a seed grow? As the saying goes, "you can count the number of seeds in the apple, but not the number of apples in the seed".

This is actually from Rev Joe Purcell, but I adapted it not only working in the way of the Lord but also in our daily lives.

As a seed, it needs to be planted into the soil. The word is planted, in bible sense, it actually means to have someone preach the word or oneself mediating the word of God. In this way, it can be planted in our heart. Ever consider the trees in Botanic garden? Many visitors come to admire the trees and plants planted there. Yet you hardly hear people going to the forest to admire the trees. Thus in earthy sense, lets say you want something, but you need to do something to get that thing you want. Things don't just happen the way you without doing anything.

Next, it needs to be germinated, therefore you got to water it. Take it that you got to meditate upon the word in the area you want to achieve. Meditation is just thinking about something, we all know how to do that but we use it in the area of worry. Meditating on the word of God cause faith to come, and faith give rest. In earthy sense, of course it means that continuing in doing the area of a certain harvest that you wish to achieve.

Finally, the seed germinate and you see first the blade than the leaves. Consider the way of a mustard seed and you see three charactistics.

First, there is a period of time that it appears nothing is happening. Imagine the way of the mustard seed. It is less than an inch size but when it is fully grown, allows the birds of the air to perched onto it. Just as our life, what we labouring at, may look very small, maybe you want to lose weight, each day you still look the same though you exercise and eat less, but slowly and slowly you are going on the path of the way you want to look. Maybe you done something, but you do not see the results, therefore you feel like giving up. But persevere, and you will see the fruit of your labour. In spiritual sense, it means keep meditating on the word of the lord. Nothing may seen to happen in your circumstances, but behold, the day will come to the perfect day.

Another characteristic is that a seed is small and deceptive in its appearance. Consider a seed and a tree. Say the California Redwood tree, the seed is so small about less that 1/6 of an inch, but grown to be about 112m height andd 3 m in diameter, the tallest tree on earth. They look totally different and you cannot imagine how it look if you never seen one. Just like in our daily lives, the things you do, seems so small, it seems you can never get the way out to the path that you want. But, you are actually working towards your goal. In spiritual sense, mediatating on the word of God seems so insignificant and wasting time, but you never know the power it brings to your circumstances.

Lastly, a seed has to be planted before anything happens. A seed has no power if it is not planted. The same goes to the area of your life. Without doing anything, nothing gets done.
