Trouble Sleeping? Don't be...


I didn't want to share tips on health because not many clicked on the poll on the right. >>>>

But here, I am going to share this knowledge of sleeping well just because of my dear readers Melissa and Desmond.

Now, now, I have the cause and effect explanation. The causes of sleeplessness may be that you screwed up your sleeping routine. You sleep late every night until you got used to it. The other is that you keep your brain too active before you sleep. Needless to say, the effect is you toss and turn before you step into dreamland.

Now let's say you want to change your sleeping time. Example is that you usually sleep say about 2am and wakes at 10am. Then from tomorrow onwards you want to sleep at 10pm. So instead of getting up at 10am, you wake at 8am the next day. The shortage of 2 hours make you really sleepy even before 10pm reaches. Whatever you do, you must tolerate till its 10pm or at least 9.30pm. When the time arrives, you will LOVE your bed.

Now, now let's say that the cause is that your mind is too active. If you are really the type who is determined to sleep early, then do this:

One hour before you want to sleep, take a WARM bathe. Then while waiting for you hair to dye, make a cuppie of warm milk or ginger tea( Lipton's Lemongrass & GInger is nice). Now, switch on some nice soothing music (do not on those which will set you thinking or arouse your emotions). For me, I realise that certain Christian songs is very soothing. If not, if you have, sounds of birds and waves is good. Do some light reading. Read some novels or something which do not need much thinking. Do not tax your brain at this time.

All right, for the last few minutes before you sleep. Switch off all lights and all music and lie on your bed. In order to prevent your mind from wandering, be conscious of your breathing. When you breathe in, be mindful that you are breathing in. When you are breathing out, be mindful of that too. When you concentrate on your breathing, its difficult to think of other things. Do it until you feel drowsy. Then just let go and fall to sleep. Just this few moments of quietness calms your mind and body and soul. So simple, yet so easily overlooked. This is the most important part and should not be skipped. You may skip the others if you are not desperate but not this step.
