Objectives
This programme is designed to develop broad business analytical skills as well as more technical knowledge of economics and finance. To gain a thorough appreciation of the complexity of the modern finance industry, students will undertake a broad range of courses to gain both a theoretical and practical perspective of finance markets.
Students can enjoy the uniquely designed programme that earns them two qualifications in three years on a full-time basis.
Stage 1 of the programme equips students with the necessary knowledge and understanding in areas relating to financial services.
Stage 2 of the programme offers specialised study of finance and economics in the context of a broad-based degree to equip them with skills needed for high level financial and economic analysis. Direct entry into Stage 2 is possible for students holding relevant business diplomas from the local polytechnics.
Programme Nature This full-time programme is conducted entirely in Singapore and students are required to complete an equivalent of 25 approved courses over three years (six semesters).
Students who enter the programme with 'A' levels and non-business diplomas will be required to complete both Stages 1 and 2.
Upon successful completion of the first 12 courses (Stage 1), students will be awarded the Diploma of Financial Services. They can proceed to Stage 2 to complete the equivalent of another 12 courses plus a 2-part course in Workplace Skills to gain the Bachelor of Business (Economics and Finance).
Candidates with relevant business diplomas from the local polytechnics may gain entry directly into Stage 2 and graduate with a single award - the Bachelor of Business (Economics and Finance).
Lectures are normally conducted by both the university faculty and local lecturers. Lectures are held in the mornings or in the afternoons on weekdays or on Saturdays.
Besides lectures, methods such as projects, self-managed learning activities, and work-integrated learning are used to encourage flexible and independent learning. Class presentations, simulations and group assignments are used extensively to ensure that students develop personal qualities including clear thinking, resourcefulness, ability to work in a team and to perform under pressure.
Assessments are fully controlled by RMIT University, with the same standards expected and maintained in Australia.

Note: RMIT uni provides hands on project work whereas UOL provides exams based type of studies. However, UOL provides Honours wheres RMIT don't. So here comes my dilemma- which should I go for??? Melissa...which would you chose?
